Over the course of 6 weeks, I was tasked with creating a puzzle room kit for Fae Farm. I started by brainstorming some mood concepts with Kim Parker https://www.artstation.com/thatkimparker .
I worked closely with the level designer to create a variety of modular walls, pillars, switches and doors. While most of the textures didnt use normal maps, I still made hipoly sculpts of assets to bake down lighting for the textures.
There were a lot of technical limitations to work around, since Fae Farm is multi platform. Trying to make things look good without baked lighting or real-time shadows was tricky.
Levels were constructed by our level designers, and decorated by myself and Lou Dumont https://www.artstation.com/flwlss
I learned a ton from my art director Jen Morgan. There were some more technical aspects of environment art that I had never done before that she helped me with, like blended materials and atmosphere lighting. https://www.artstation.com/moarandmoar
